Job Summary
Odyssey House Louisiana, Inc. is seeking a full-time Licensed Counselor or Social Worker for our Intensive Outpatient Treatment Facility: Treating adult clients with alcohol and drug addiction. The schedule for the position is Monday through Friday 8am-5pm. The Counselor is responsible for performing a wide variety of client care activities as directed by the Program Manager and must function in any program of the agency in accordance with state law. The Counselor will provide specialized services for the assigned caseload; will conduct specialized assessments (when necessary), provide core and ancillary group therapies weekly, individual counseling and when appropriate, family therapy. The Counselor has the main responsibility for maintaining communication with the referral source, court systems, and other involved human service providers as related to the client’s ongoing treatment and discharge planning. The Counselor is responsible for working within the multidisciplinary team to develop treatment planning, treatment case reviews, and all written documentation as required by the agency, state and federal courts and all funding sources. The Counselor participates in Performance Improvement activities as assigned.
Responsibilities and Duties
It is the duty and responsibility of the Counselor to
· provide clinical services to assigned client(s): conduct group therapies weekly, individual counseling and/or family therapy as outlined in treatment plan; co-leads group therapies (when necessary) with appropriately assigned staff; conducts family assessments / therapy when possible.
· function as a liaison to outside agencies, participate in case planning conferences, and treatment meetings as needed.
· attend court hearings and represent the agency and client(s) when necessary.
· maintain clinical case file for each client to include assessments, Individual Treatment Plan, Case notes, and discharge summaries.
· ensure all written reports are up to date in case file.
· attend staff meetings and all other meetings as needed.
· maintain contact with and is available to agency personnel, client’s drug court officer and family members as needed regarding client's progress, problems and crises.
· provide crisis management when indicated by client need.
· attend regularly scheduled in-service training as assigned.
· complete administrative projects as assigned.
· complete all Incident Reports prior to the end of scheduled shift as required by Incident Policy and Procedure.
· assist with the planning and organization of therapeutic client actives both on and off the Main Campus;
· maximize units of services and maintain contract units of service by working with clients to stay engaged in treatment.
· adhere to all Louisiana Department of Health and Agency contract requirements;
· work with and apply American Society of Addiction Medicine criteria to treatment planning;
· work with Bayou Health providers for initial authorization (if needed) and concurrent authorizations.
· follow state licensing requirements.
· participate in Quarterly training with staff.
· participate in Council on Accreditation sight review;
· maintain Council on Accreditation standards;
· coordinate and working with other departments;
· maintain individual licensing requirements, participates in electronic medical record documentation;
· treat clients and other staff with dignity and respect;
· must be able to complete work in allotted amount of time;
· notify managers when they are aware of other staff not following agency policy and procedures;
· ensure that all sign in sheets are printed for group and all groups are batched for billing; and
· perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Skills
Required:
Minimum qualifications include the following:
· Master’s degree in Clinical Social Work, Counseling, or related Human Service Field from an accredited Program
· A valid Louisiana State issued license in either counseling, addiction counseling, or social work
· Skilled in individual and group therapy modalities
· Demonstrated interest in working towards highest level of Louisiana licensure within discipline
· Experience in substance abuse treatment modalities (Emphasis on Minnesota Model)
· Excellent written, verbal, organizational, and communication skills
· Ability to be creative and flexible within parameters of treatment programs and modalities
· Written and verbal communication skills
· PLPC, LPC, LMSW, OR LCSW
