Job Summary
Odyssey House Louisiana, Inc. is a seeking a motivated and compassionate contractual part-time Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner to work at the Community Health Center. The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner will participate in day to day clinic services as a direct care provider. This position will manage Quality Improvement/Quality Assurance reports, as part of the Best Practices of the clinic and other programs, that reflect participation in coordinating and providing patient care.
Responsibilities and Duties
It is the duty and responsibility of the Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner to:
· provide direct care to patients within the Scope of Practice for which the provider is licensed;
· provide direct care to clients/patients to support the agency’s departments (i.e. Community Health Center, Detox, Residential, and Transitions);
· meet productivity expectations of serving 15-20 community and in house clients a day;
· manage at least 100 MAT clients a year, in house and community patients, with anticipated future growth;
· manage patient care under Best Practices, UDS recommendations, and accreditation standards;
· review patients’ medical history and develop and implement treatment plans, including prescription of psychopharmacological medications;
· identify mental health and substance use disorders and determine best treatments;
· evaluate patients’ emotional, behavioral, and mental state through discussion, observation and analysis by interviewing; conducting physical examinations; observing behaviors; reviewing medical history and related documents; selecting, administering, and interpreting psychological tests; ordering laboratory tests and evaluating results;
· treat patients by utilizing psychotherapeutic methods and medications; discussing progress toward goals with patients; providing instructions; monitoring effect of medications; tracking patients’ progress;
· develop treatment plans by determining the nature and extent of cognitive, emotional, developmental, social, and behavioral disorders and establishing treatment goals and methodologies;
· monitor and evaluate treatment results;
· advise patients on how to cope with mental health and substance use disorders and emotional breakdowns;
· conduct thorough documentation of visits and medical orders to support billing charges;
· complete billing components of visit to optimize revenue within dictated time frames;
· oversee care delivered by medical support staff by providing feedback on immediate care activities and reporting to direct supervisor on concerns that expose the agency or endanger a patient’s health outcomes;
· participate in webinars and conference calls as assigned by the Clinic Practice Manager;
· implement and manage Best Practices initiated by Quality Improvement/Quality Assurance staff and as assigned by the Clinic Practice Manager;
· identify and prioritize medical decision making with a fiscally minded approach to care;
· coordinate and supervise the completion of daily tasks related to direct patient care on matters related to Health Outcomes (i.e. referrals, lab orders, lab review, and medical records review);
· organize and implement work flow strategies to support provider visits, billing and patient care during One on One meetings with the Clinic Practice Manager ;
· coordinate implementation of Quality Assurance measures to ensure data integrity and outcomes are met;
· ensure support staff document all pertinent health related information in the client’s electronic medical chart as part of standards of practice designed to improve patient care, support billing, and meet Quality Improvement goals;·
· observe Occupational Safety and Health Administration during all elements of daily operations, including but not limited to phlebotomy, in-house testing, medical interventions, medical waste and managing infection control;
· observe Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act compliance; and
· perform other duties as assigned.
· Provides direct care to patients within the Scope of Practice for which the provider is licensed.
Qualifications and Skills
Required
· Master’s degree in Nursing Science
· Active, unencumbered NP license in the state of LA with prescriptive authority
· Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner, PMHNP-BC
· CPR certification
· At least 1 year clinical experience
· Current good standing with regulating National Certifying Board
· Proficient in MS Office 365 Suite
· Electronic Health Records experience
· Excellent communication and computer skills
· Ability to exercise patience, approachability, and consistency in a high stress environment
Preferred
· FQHC and medical home model knowledge
· Suboxone certification
